Understanding TMS: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain regions involved in mood, cognition, and neurological recovery. Originally used for medication-resistant depression, TMS also shows benefit in managing anxiety, PTSD, cognitive difficulties, and other symptoms linked with neurological disorders. TMS has been around for over 30 years and is both FDA and TGA approved.

What is TMS:

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a well-established treatment for those with mental health and sleep issues. It uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain to help restore normal brain activity. Unlike medications, TMS is non-invasive, does not require surgery or anesthesia, and typically has very few side-effects (usually only mild and temporary side effects like scalp discomfort or low-level headache). Its long history and extensive research support TMS as an effective option for managing depression and OCD, as well as showing good results with other ‘off-label’ uses such as anxiety, sleep disturbances, PTSD, and other neurological conditions.

Key benefits of TMS:

  • Precisely targets brain areas of the brain to promote neuroplasticity - the brains ability to adapt and learn

  • Offers a drug-free alternative with minimal side effects for mood disorders

  • Enhances mood regulation, improves sleep and cognitive clarity

  • Can be integrated with other rehabilitative therapies like psychotherapy and physical rehabilitation

Why Brain Hub uses the ExoMind device:

  • Advanced Technology: ExoMind uses patented ExoTMS™ technology that provides precise, comfortable stimulation
